Time for a new Recipe...
I would like you to meet the newest recipe to be added to my collection. They are super scrumptious and oh so easy to make. I just love to make bars, so much faster than cookies.
MM: Oatmeal Carmelitas
---------- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.02
Title: Oatmeal Carmelitas
Categories: Bars
Yield: 38 bars
---------------------------CRUST---------------------------
2 c Pillsbury All Purpose Flour
2 c Quick-cooking rolled oats
1 1/2 c Firmly packed brown sugar
1 ts Baking soda
1/2 ts Salt
1 1/4 c Butter, softened
--------------------------FILLING--------------------------
1 c Caramel inc cream topping
3 tb Pillsbury Flour
1 c Semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 c Chopped nuts
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13x9-inch pan. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup, level off. In large bowl, combine all crust ingredients, mix at low speed until crumbly. Reserve half of crumb mixture (about 3 cups) for topping. Press remaining crumb mixture in bottom of greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, in small bowl, combine caramel topping and 3 tb flour, blend well.
3. Remove partially baked crust from oven; sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Drizzle evenly with caramel mixture; sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture.
4. Return to oven; bake an additional 18 to 22 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely before cutting into bars.
Cook's Notes: These have a chewy chocolate filling that rests on an oatmeal-brown sugar crust. They also
have the distinction of winning the Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest #18 in 1967.
The Crafty Gourmet aka Craftyjamie has given this recipe her highest seal of approval! ENJOY !!
