Just thinking that I would like to chat a bit about paper pieced quilting projects. It is one of my favorites and I cannot understand why a lot of folks find it not appealing. Once you get the hang of it, it is so easy and so relaxing and so totally fulfilling when the finished product appears.
Oh, I know that one does not like to pull the paper off, but think of it this way, when it's done, it's done. I use a stitch just short enough not to tear the paper foundation and fold before I pull it off. If a bit get's caught in a corner, use a pair of tweezers to pull it out, and if it won't come out, believe me, it will not be seen by a passing airplane ;). Please do not spritz the paper unless you have checked the steadfastness of the colors you are using. Many a project has been ruined because the paper was spritzed and soaked thru to the front and the colors ran. Oh Oh, major distaster. Please don't go there.
I have tried many papers by many manufacturers, but have been using Carol Doak's paper exclusivily for the past year or so.
Don't be afraid of it, just go for it. I went for it big time. The Barn Raising above was my first paper pieced project. Sure I made a few mistakes, but I kept at it until I got it perfect and the result was fantastic. Same with the Pineapple Passion. This one has to have 1/8" seams to lay flat. Tip>>>> Cut the fabric at 1/4" and sew then trim to 1/8" after you have sewn. You probably don't know what I am talking about if you are new to this, but remember it.. You will understand when you run into it.
