Is there really such a thing as Retirement?

"Today is the first day of the rest of my life!".  This has always been a saying that I have treasured and believed in, but I think today it is really apropo as I finally retired for good yesterday and I have the whole world ahead of me, one day at a time.  And that is how I plan to do it, one day at a time.

There will be days for quilting, days for knitting, days for crocheting and rainy dull days for just setting back and enjoying a good book and finally, days for "God Forbid" house work!  Oh how I love a clean organized house, and I so enjoy poking and keeping it neat, but somewhere along the line, one has to do the initial cleaning, Bah Humbug!!!

Retirement is a funny thing, though.  You think your ready and your really not, you mostly just need to change jobs.  That is what happened to me.  When I left RI to move to Florida in 1988 I thought I was retiring.  That lasted for about one month when I went to work for a development company.  I didn't retire from this one, my boss's job was phased out.  I then went on to work as a one girl office at a cabinet company and retired five years later.  Two months after that I went retail and cash office type of stuff and retired from that one five years later.  After moving to North Carolina I went to work again in a retail cash office environment and this job lasted nine years as I just didn't want to start over again anywhere, so this time it is truly retirement.

I'm kind of rambling on but then that is what "The Meanderings" is all about, my thoughts on most any subject.  Speaking of subjects, how about food.  Just think, I will have time to do most any kind of cooking I like.  With that, I will leave you with a favorite list ~ ~ ~, but all kidding aside, I do love to cook.
